Disappointments

Sorry it’s been awhile. Kind of lost my moe-joe.  There didn’t seem to be much on my mind to write about.  That’s not to say that things weren’t happening, it’s just that I couldn’t seem to get them on paper in a way that would make sense to you or for that matter to me.

But today something did touch my heart and I want to share that with you.

Question: “What do you do when life brings you disappointments?

For many of us, we cry.  We wonder why?  We try our best to make sense of it.  And we even try to understand its purpose in the whole experience of life.

My second question is this: “Does God care about us when we are going through a disappointment?”  I believe the answer would be, “Yes, he does.”

Disappointments can be a channel through which God can reveal his will for your life.  It’s unfortunate that we look at them in a negative way.  What if they were meant to be a positive thing?  What if God’s plan was to allow them to be a part of our everyday lives so that we would be drawn closer to him.  Maybe they are meant to make us more dependent on him.  And maybe, just maybe they could be used by him to show us that we really are stronger than we think we are.

Couldn’t most of us truly say that during a disappointment we found that we were by necessity drawn closer to God?  Sometimes in life we drift away from our close relationship with him and we find ourselves floating in a sea of confusion and despair.  It takes something powerful and direct to get our attention.  Something so overwhelming that we will run back to the side of our Creator and walk once again in the shadow of his grace.  It is there that we are at home; peace is restored; comfort is felt; life is restored to normal.

You will find in times of disappointment that you will have two choices to make.  You can either run from God or you can run to him.

All of us are aware that life is full of disappointments.  Each one has its own effect upon our lives; each one seems more profound than the last; each can change the course of our lives.

You may be going through a disappointment right now.  If that is true, try this.  Look at it this time as an opportunity to see what God would want you to learn about yourself that you didn’t know before.  And for all you know, he may be revealing the truth about the person or thing that is causing the disappointment. Be open to learning what really is going on.

May you find the strength in this moment to see the truth in this disappointment.  There is perhaps a lesson to be learned.  Learn it well.

Turn this disappointment into a positive experience.
